Individual Therapy

Therapy can help you remain resilient in the face of whatever comes your way.

A new job, a new baby, difficult family members, illness, addiction, work stress, trouble making friends, isolation.  A person can become stuck for a wide gamut of reasons.  Get the help you need today to face these challenges with resilience.

The Therapy

Dr. McMaster uses a form of therapy called Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (also known as SFBT).  SFBT has been found to be just as effective in treating a wide range of problems as other therapies and always in fewer sessions.  This is true of all types of clients, but research shows that SFBT has specifically been helpful in reducing the symptoms of anxiety, depression, and substance use, as well as a number of other common issues that trouble adults.1,2  SFBT does not require an enormous amount of time or an undetermined long-term financial commitment from you, as can be the case with other therapies, and clients typically experience positive results after just a few sessions.  The focus in sessions will be on solutions, not problems (as the name suggests).  You will set goals for yourself and draw upon your strengths to bring about the changes you believe will lead to a better future.

More Information

When you are ready to make an appointment, you will be directed to schedule your intake session with Dr. McMaster during any available slot you see in her online calendar.  An intake session is 55 minutes long. At the end of your intake appointment, you will have the option of booking six therapy sessions. After about six total therapy sessions, many clients experience progress and relief. At that point you can decide to stop therapy, book another six sessions to continue working on the same goal, or choose a new goal to work on.

Sessions will be held via video chat on a secure portal made specifically for teletherapy.  You will not be required to bring anything to your session.  All paperwork will be completed before your session online via the secure client portal.  Read over the FAQ and Rates & Insurance pages for more information.
