Most biblical and pastoral counselors are not trained in mental health diagnosis and evidence-based treatments, nor is a state-regulated license required for these types of counselors to practice. At the same time, qualified providers in secular settings may minimize, misunderstand, or altogether ignore your unique worldview.

Dr. McMaster’s goal is to provide biblically informed, high-quality, evidence-based services so that you don’t have to make the compromise between quality and your Christian worldview.

Leave your mental health concerns in the hands of a qualified Christian professional and book an appointment with Dr. McMaster today.

Dr. McMaster is now accepting married couples for a new therapy she has developed called Personality-Focused Therapy (PFT). Learn more on the PFT for married couples service page.

With clients in individual therapy, Dr. McMaster uses Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). SFBT is a goal-oriented therapy that, for many clients, produces positive results in just a few sessions. Since its inception in the 1980s, several research studies on SFBT have shown that it is very effective for many different types of clients with a wide range of needs (check out the Services page for more information about this). The research on SFBT also shows that SFBT works as well as other evidence-based treatments and always in fewer sessions.  That means you, the client, get a therapy that works with less of a time and financial commitment than most other therapies require.

Dr. McMaster currently works with residents of Washington DC and Maryland.

Adults and couples with a range of needs are welcome to sign up for therapy with Dr. McMaster.

Dr. McMaster is not currently accepting new families or new child and teen clients.

Keep clear of psychiatrists unless you know that they are also Christians. Otherwise they start with the assumption that your religion is an illusion and try to “cure” it: and this assumption they make not as professional psychologists but as amateur philosophers.
